Fitness-for-Duty Evaluations

A Fitness-for-Duty evaluation is a psychological assessment requested by an employer to assist with gaining information about an employee’s mental condition as it relates to whether that employee is able to perform essential job functions. These evaluations are often conducted when an employer believes an individual cannot perform their job duties effectively, when they believe an individual may be a danger to themselves or co-workers, or prior to an employee returning from FMLA leave; all due to a psychological condition.
